Peer Review Process
All submissions to Khazanah: Jurnal Penelitian dan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure academic integrity, originality, and relevance to the journal’s focus and scope. The journal implements a double-blind peer review system, in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the process. The review is conducted by experts in relevant fields who assess the academic quality, novelty, and ethical compliance of the submitted manuscript.
Initial Review
Upon submission, the editorial team conducts a preliminary screening to ensure the manuscript aligns with the journal's scope and complies with formatting and citation guidelines. Manuscripts with a plagiarism similarity index above 20% will be rejected at this stage. If necessary, the manuscript may be returned to the author for technical or content revision before proceeding to peer review.
Reviewer Assignment
The editorial board assigns at least two to three independent reviewers who are experts in the subject area of the manuscript. Reviewers are selected based on their academic qualifications and are required to have no conflicts of interest with the authors. Authors must ensure that their identities are fully anonymized in the manuscript by removing names, acknowledgments, and identifying citations, which must be placed on a separate title page file. Reviewers are expected to submit their evaluations within two to three weeks.
Peer Review Evaluation
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on:
- Originality and contribution to Islamic education or civilization studies
- Coherence of argument and academic writing quality
- Methodological soundness
- Relevance to the aims and scope of the journal
- Ethical research standards and citation accuracy
Reviewers provide constructive feedback and make one of the following recommendations:
- Accept without revision: The manuscript meets all criteria for publication.
- Minor revision: The manuscript requires slight adjustments in content, clarity, or formatting.
- Major revision: The manuscript requires significant changes, especially in methodology, data, or argument structure, and will be re-reviewed upon resubmission.
- Reject: The manuscript contains fundamental issues that disqualify it from publication.
Editorial Decision
The final decision regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on reviewers’ recommendations. In cases of significant disagreement between reviewers, a third reviewer may be consulted. Authors will receive an official decision letter and anonymous reviewer comments through the online submission system.
The average duration from submission to initial decision is approximately four to six weeks, and the publication timeline after acceptance is around 2 to 4 weeks, depending on editing and production.
Revision and Resubmission
For manuscripts requiring revisions:
- Minor revisions should be submitted within two weeks.
- Major revisions should be submitted within four weeks along with a response letter detailing how each reviewer’s comment has been addressed.
Revised manuscripts undergoing major changes may be reassessed by the same reviewers.
Final Publication
Once accepted, the final manuscript undergoes copyediting, layout editing, and proofreading to ensure quality and consistency. The editorial team ensures that the final version maintains high scholarly and ethical standards prior to official publication in Khazanah: Jurnal Penelitian dan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat.
